Jackson Center to Hold Symposium on Immigration Law, Security, and Citizenship

The issue of immigration law, security and citizenship will be the subject of a day-long symposium at the Robert H. Jackson Center in Jamestown this Friday. Elizabeth Lenna Fellow at the Jackson Center, John Q. Barrett, will host the program, which runs from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Barrett says immigration is certainly a timely subject, and one that Jackson -- as a U.S. Supreme Court Judge -- dealt with several times. The St. John's University Law Professor says he'll present the introductory lecture, "Robert H. Jackson on Immigrants, Citizens, Power and Liberty"...

John Q. Barrett: Robert H. Jackson's experience with immigration

Barrett says there will be three parts to Friday's program... but, the major highlight will probably be the lunchtime speech by University of North Carolina Law Professor and Center for Civil Rights Director, Theodore Shaw...

Barrett says former U.S. Department of Homeland Security Officer for Civil Rights and Liberties, Margo Schlanger, will make the final presentation on civil rights at the border, highlighting national security, border screening and the Muslim Ban. There will also be panel discussions after the presentations, along with a brief question and answer session. For more information and registration, click here or call 483-6646.
