For Fredonia, it was a heartbreaking end to what had been a perfect season. For Medina, you could simply call it destiny. On Tuesday, in the Section VI Class B-2 softball semifinals, the Lady Billies and Lady Mustangs were locked into a pitcher's duel in Fredonia. With the game scoreless and one out in the top of the 6th, Medina center fielder Destiny Satkowski (pictured) crushed a 1-1 pitch deep to left center to break the deadlock and give the Mustangs (12-4) a 1-0 lead. It was the only run Medina needed, as pitcher Emily Kams stifled the Fredonia (15-1) bats all day. Kams took a no-hitter into the final inning and was within one strike of getting it, but Sydney Bigelow broke it up with a single to center field. The hit did not rattle Kams, as she responded by striking out Cassie Essek -- Kams' eighth strikeout of the day -- to preserve the 1-0 win. Fredonia's Hannah Cybart allowed four hits and one walk in her final game in a Fredonia uniform.
