Standing in a suit and tie before a judge, Weiner pleaded guilty to a single charge of transmitting obscene material to a minor under 16, a girl in North Carolina who was 15 at the time. The evidence against him intersected with the Hillary Clinton email investigation involving Weiner's estranged wife and Clinton aide Huma Abadin. Weiner agreed to relinquish his iPhone, register as a sex offender, and spend anywhere from 21 to 27 months in prison.
