Legislators approve lease for wind turbine parts storage

A proposal to lease out space at a brownfield site in the city of Dunkirk to store wind turbine parts for projects in three North County towns has been approved by Chautauqua County lawmakers. The legislature last night approved the $60,000 lease with BNSF Logistics 15-4. Dunkirk legislator Robert Bankoski supported the move, which would take place in his district. Some legislators were sympathetic to residents who spoke prior to the vote awho urged them to vote against the proposal. One of those was Jamestown's Chuck Nazzaro who says it's "not always about the money..."

Nazzaro was joined by Hanover's George Borrello, Fredonia's Bob Scudder and, Frewsburg's Ron Lemon in voting against the proposal.
