Jamestown Man Sentenced on Federal Weapons Charge

A Jamestown man who was convicted of unlawfully possessing firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon will be serving some time in federal prison.  On Thursday, 45-year-old Raymond VanBuskirk was sentenced in a Buffalo courtroom to six months behind bars after pleading guilty to that charge last September.  According to prosecutors, VanBuskirk moved two rifles, one shotgun, and over 1,000 rounds of .223 caliber ammunition from his home to another location for safekeeping in May.  He also retained a third rifle at his home, which was recovered by federal agents on June 29th.  VanBuskirk has a prior New York State felony conviction for sale of a controlled substance and was prohibited from legally possessing firearms and ammunition.
