President Trump's budget slashes funding for a program that would impact the operations of several small airports across the state including the Chautauqua County Airport in Jamestown. U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer says the Administration's budget would cut funding for the Essential Air Service Program by $175 million. He indicates the EAS program is critical to supporting air service in a number of communities, including Jamestown, Massena, Ogdensburg, Plattsburgh, Saranac Lake and Watertown. Schumer called the proposed spending cut, "reckless and counterproductive." The New York Democrat says he will do all in his power to make sure the cuts "will never fly."
