A city-wide "Street Sweep" conducted by Dunkirk Police with assistance of New York State Parole Saturday night led to charges being placed against nine people, including several on outstanding warrants. Police officials say the purpose of the operation was to promote the safety of the community by policing in a "proactive manner" in an effort to deter criminal activity on local street corners, execute outstanding warrants and aggressively enforce vehicle and traffic laws in high traffic areas.
