State Police arrested a Jamestown man after he fled from the scene of an accident in the south county city on Friday. Ellicott Town Police tried to stop a vehicle that had struck a stop sign and fled the scene at the intersection of Foote Avenue and East 2nd Street. The vehicle was eventually pulled over on Harrison Street, and troopers arrived at the scene and arrested 50-year-old Timothy Markham after he was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol. Markham allegedly registered a blood alcohol content of .21%, more than 2 1/2 times the legal limit. Police add that Markham's driving privileges had been revoked due to alcohol-related offenses. Markham was arraigned in Ellery Town Court on charges of aggravated DWI and 1st-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. He was then released on his own recognizance and will appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.
