Dunkirk School Board gets update on NRG repowering

The NRG repowering project was one of the issues that was discussed during Thursday's Dunkirk School Board meeting.  School officials say that State Senator Cathy Young hosted a conference call with school, city and county officials to confirm the go ahead with plans for the NRG repowering project.  School Superintendent Dr. James Tracy says they are encouraged about the project that had stalled in 2016...

Dr. Tracy says that without the project, the District will see state transition phased out over the next few years. receive decreasing amounts of transition aid over the next few years.  No set timeline on the repowering project has been determined.
