South Carolina church shooter Dylann Roof has been sentenced to death. A jury in Charleston, South Carolina reached its decision during the sentencing phase of Roof's trial late Tuesday afternoon. ABC News reports that Roof made no effort to spare his life, and in his closing statement to the jury, told them he wasn't sure "what good it would do" to ask for life in prison. Roof addressed the jury for just about five minutes and even told them he still feels like he had to commit the shooting that killed nine black parishioners in 2015. Prosecutors say his lack of remorse is reason for the harshest punishment possible and told jurors Roof had come to Emanuel AME Church that day with "a hateful heart and a Glock .45."
