Firefighters made quick work of a fire near a barn on Saturday afternoon in the Town of Pomfret. Crews from Fredonia, Sheridan, East Dunkirk, and Cassadaga responded to 9488 Route 60 just before 2:30 PM. On arrival, firefighters found smoke coming from inside the barn. According to Fredonia Fire, a resident started his meat smoker, but the fire inside the smoker was larger than anticipated, causing it to overheat.
