Dunkirk Routs Maryvale 59-0 in First Ever Home Playoff Football Game

Dunkirk High School's first ever home playoff game?  Windy and rainy conditions?  No problem at all for the Marauders, who demonstrated Friday night that they've got bigger things in mind, like a trip to Orchard Park.  In a game broadcast on WDOE, Dunkirk extended its winning streak to six games, shutting out Maryvale 59-0 in the Section VI Class B quarterfinals at Karl Hoeppner Field.

Dunkirk (6-2) got things going on offense after both teams went three and out on their opening possessions.  The Marauders drove 69 yards in 10 plays for the game's first score, a 20-yard touchdown run by Alton Ingram.  The score remained 8-0 going into the 2nd quarter, but like last week's regular season finale in Fredonia, the Marauders assumed total control of the game, scoring 28 points en route to a 36-0 halftime lead.  Juan Damas ran for a pair of touchdowns on runs of 38 and 14 yards, and Ingram added two more touchdowns from 15 and 61 yards.  Dunkirk was not finished, though; in the 3rd quarter, Damas scored his third touchdown on a 37-yard run, Tyreek Ruiz found the end zone from 21 yards, the defense recorded a safety, and Dontrell Clemons ran for an 8-yard score to complete the historic night for Dunkirk High School.

Alton Ingram led Dunkirk's offense with 16 carries for 144 yards and three touchdowns.  Juan Damas added 95 yards on just 4 carries and three touchdowns.  Dontrell Clemons ran 7 times for 47 yards and a score, and quarterback Evon Hernandez rushed for 31 yards and did not attempt a single pass.  In the Marauders' current six-game winning streak, they have outscored their opponents 257-18, including three shutouts.  The lone bright spot for Maryvale (6-2) was running back Austin Reamsnyder, who carried the ball 12 times for 101 yards.  The Flyers were held to only two first downs in the first half and committed four turnovers.

Dunkirk will have another home playoff game next week.  The Marauders will face Lackawanna, who upset Medina 16-8.
