Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed legislation that renames a bridge after a fallen military hero from Chautauqua County. Cuomo today announced he signed a measure that designates the bridge crossing Route 20 between Oak Street and South Portage Street in Westfield as the Sgt. Kevin W. White Memorial Bridge. The 22-year-old White served as a member of the U.S. Army in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in 2011. Assemblyman Andy Goodell, who joined State Senator Cathy Young in sponsoring the legislation, tells WDOE News he is pleased to hear that the governor signed the bill...

In a statement, Senator Young says, "that roadway will serve as a testament to the valor of Sgt. White and remind all who travel down it the real cost of freedom."
