A new local law that raises the age to purchase tobacco products in Chautauqua County will be going into effect a week from Saturday. Beginning October 1, customers must be at least 21 years-old to purchase tobacco products in Chautauqua County, including electronic cigarettes. County Executive Vince Horrigan signed the legislation into law in May after it had passed the County Legislature. A similar law was recently passed in Cattaraugus County and is expected to go into effect in November.
