USDA drought disaster declaration should help local farmers

The U.S. Department of Agriculture today announced that 15 counties in the upstate area have been designated primary natural disaster areas due to losses caused by the recent drought including Erie and Wyoming counties. Farmers in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties also qualify for natural disaster assistance because they are contiguous.
