USDA drought disaster declaration should help local farmers

The U.S. Department of Agriculture today announced that 15 counties in the upstate area have been designated primary natural disaster areas due to losses caused by the recent drought including Erie and Wyoming counties.  Farmers in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties also qualify for natural disaster assistance because they are contiguous.  Area Congressman Tom Reed says his office will be getting out more details about the assistance that will be available...

Reed-USDA declares disaster due to drought

The announcement by the USDA says all qualified farm operators in the designated areas are eligible for low interest emergency loans from USDA's Farm Service Agency provided eligibility requirements are met.  WDOE News asked Reed about the impact the drought has had on area farmers...
