Two people have been taken into custody after allegedly trying to break into a home late Friday night in Brocton. At about 11:15 PM, Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies were called to a residence at 64 Central Avenue, where three people got into a fight with two of the residents there. During the altercation, one of the three subjects was allegedly shot by a person living there. The victim, who has not been identified, was treated at the scene and later flown to ECMC with non-life threatening injuries. That person was not charged. The other two subjects -- 35-year-old Lamar Matthews of Portland and 39-year-old Shane Wynn-Hopkins of Meadville, Pennsylvania -- ran after the shooting and were later found in Westfield. Matthews and Wynn-Hopkins are facing on one count each of 3rd-degree attempted robbery, while Wynn-Hopkins has also been charged with 2nd-degree burglary. Both are being held in the Chautauqua County Jail on $50,000 cash bail. The investigation is continuing.
