A Brocton youth escaped serious injury after his bicycle was struck by a vehicle on West Main Street in the village of Brocton around 4:40 pm Thursday. State Police in Fredonia say the bike rider, Raynathan Santiago was heading west on Route 20 when he saw his father on opposite side of the roadway and turned into the path of a vehicle that was traveling in the same direction. The driver, Thomas Haynes of Westfield, couldn't avoid striking the bicyclist who suffered minor scapes in the accident. Troopers say the child was treated at the scene. The driver was not charged.
