Two local transit systems to get state and federal funding

Chautauqua County will be getting a share of more than $59 million in state and federal funding for upstate transit services. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced on Thursday that $1.6 million will be going to the county for operating assistance, mobility management services and the purchase of 12 buses. The Seneca Nation of Indians is also receiving $207,000 for operating assistance. State Senator Cathy Young says she is excited about the announcement. She says reliable transportation systems are a critical component to improving the quality of life for people in rural communities.
