Reed co-sponsors Great Lakes Restoration Initiative

Area Congressman Tom Reed was among the majority in the House that recently approved the Great Lake Restoration Initiative. During a conference call with area media including WDOE News, the Corning Republican indicated that the 300-million dollar measure helps protect the lakes because it is "critically important" to preserve these natural resources for future generations.  Reed says the Senate will now take up the measure...

Reed-Senate takes up measure

Reed says President Obama had proposed 250-million dollars in his budget plan... but lawmakers wanted to maintain it at 300-million.  The Corning says the Great Lakes currently generate more than 1.5-million jobs and 60-billion dollars in wages annually, providing the foundation for a 30-billion dollar regional tourism economy.
