A veteran of the State Police will become the agency's First Deputy Superintendent. Governor Andrew Cuomo today announced the appointment of Patricia Groeber to the post, placing her second in command of the 4,800 member division. The appointment, made by Superintendent Joseph D'Amico, marks the first time that a female member has been apointed to the position in the 98-year history of the State Police. Groeber has been a member of the State Police since 1986 and has served in numerous positions throughout her career, including Field Commander.
