An instance of distracted driving on Friday led to an accident between a car and an Amish buggy that left one person seriously injured. According to Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies, 29-year-old Amanda Braley of Kennedy was traveling south on Falconer-Frewsburg Road near Stone Road in the Town of Poland around 11:00 AM while she was allegedly using her cell phone and being distracted by her three children. As a result, Braley failed to negotiate a curve and crossed into the oncoming lane, striking an Amish buggy carrying five people ranging from 39 years old to 2 months old. 28-year-old Nancy Byler of Mercer, Pennsylvania was taken to WCA Hospital with serious injuries. The horse pulling the buggy was also seriously injured. Braley was also taken to WCA with minor injuries. She has been charged with failure to keep right, operating a motor vehicle while using a cell phone, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver's license. Further charges are pending.
