Opponent of privatizing the County Home dies at 102

One of the opponents to privatizing the former Chautauqua County Home has passed away. Joseph Carrus Jr. was 102. Carrus was over the age of 100 when he attended a number of County Legislature meeting as lawmakers decided the facility's fate. Carrus, who was a resident of County Home, was among those that spoke out at the meetings. Here are some comments he made at one of the Legislature meetings:
Carrus-Opposed sale of County Home
Carrus remained a resident during the transition of the County Home to the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center until his death last Friday. A mass of Christian Burial will be held this Friday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
