A Gerry man was hospitalized early Sunday after he got off his motorcycle to try and avoid a vehicle that had stopped in front of him. Chautauqua County Sheriff's officers say 67-year-old Samuel Shreffler was traveling north on Route 60 in the Town of Gerry around 12:15 AM when the vehicle in front of him stopped to make a left turn onto Salisbury Road. Deputies say Shreffler laid his motorcycle down onto the roadway to try and avoid the vehicle. He was taken to WCA Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
