33 Million Drivers Hit the Highway on Busiest Memorial Day Weekend in Ten Years

With the Memorial Day holiday weekend almost over, many of us are bracing for the drive back home. Gas prices are nearly a dollar a gallon cheaper this year, and AAA estimates 33 million people are hitting the road. That would make it the busiest Memorial Day weekend in a decade. Before hitting the highway, residents in the Dunkirk area will be attending the city's annual Memorial Day services and parade, put on by the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council. WDOE's Dave Rowley will serve as the parade commentator. Click here for more information about today's parade.
Local police officials are stressing safety for drivers on their travels, and will be checking for drivers not wearing seatbelts and using their cell phones while driving.
