Will there be an early spring this year? Dunkirk Dave apparently believes so. Dave's handler Bob Will brought the ground hog outside his Dunkirk area home this morning and he made his annual prediction. Unlike his more famous brother Punxsutawney Phil, Dave is predicting early spring weather.

There was a special twist to this year's event. Brooks Memorial Hospital made a special donation to Will who is a wildlife rehabilitator. Shelia Walier is the hospital's director of marketing and community relations.

Will says Dave has a 93 percent accuracy rate…much better than Phil. That’s because they follow the old fashion method of allowing the ground hog to search for his shadow on the ground according to Will.
