A major winter storm continues to pound the Northeast, but the blizzard conditions never materialized for the New York City area where accumulations have totaled around 7 inches. The Blizzard warning has been discontinued for New York City and the travel ban has been lifted for Hudson Valley, Nassau County and New York City. The closed portion of the Thruway has also been re-opened. A long Island teen became the storm's first fatality in a snow tubing accident.
