A member of the Jamestown City Council has announced that she is resigning her seat as of next Monday. Third Ward Councilwoman Tamara Dickey says that she "sincerely regrets" that she is resigning, but says she has received a career opportunity she "could not pass up." Dickey works in finance in the health care industry, and says she received an offer that involved more travel. Dickey expressed her regrets to residents in Ward 3. However, she felt that her skills in finance weren't being used to their full potential serving on the Public Works Committee. She was elected last November to the seat, previously held by Michael Taylor. The city charter says the mayor has to appoint someone from the political party that holds the seat, and that nomination would be voten on by the council.
