A 23-year-old Medford man escaped injury after his vehicle slammed into a bridge abutment on Creek Road in the town of Sheridan Saturday night. State Police in Fredonia say that Claudio Barros apparently swerved to avoid hitting a raccoon in the road when his vehicle struck the end of the abutment. Troopers say Barros refused medical attention. No charges were filed in the crash. The vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash.
