A 40-year-old Mayville woman is facing charges including attempted arson following an incident Saturday evening on South Erie Street in Mayville. Chautauqua County Sheriff's Deputies say that Brenda Harper allegedly attempted to light a multiple unit apartment house on fire while occupants were inside. Harper was taken into custody and charged with attempted arson in the second degree and reckless endangerment in the first degree. Harper was arraigned in Chautauqua Town Court where she was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail.
