Dredging work at two area harbors will have to wait until next year. That's the word from Chautauqua County Executive Vince Horrigan who says the contractor performing the work at the Barcelona Harbor Project, will not be able dredge the Dunkirk City Harbor and the Town of Hanover boat launches until 2015 because of challenging weather conditions in the Barcelona Harbor area.
Horrigan-Delay because of weather
Rough weather has caused the Barcelona project to take much longer than expected. County Legislator George Borrello, who helped with making the arrangement says he is hopeful the work will get done next year.
Borrello-Arrangements are being made for 2015
County officials say the decision was made because the Hanover project had to be completed before the fall steelhead run on Cattaraugus Creek, which begins in mid-September.
