Jammers to move to West Virginia next year

A Fredonia man who served several years as the General Manager of the Jamestown Jammers says it's a "sad day" to see the Jammers leaving Jamestown for West Virginia.  Mike Ferguson worked with the Jammers for a number of years including GM from 1998 to 2002.  While he was saddened by the news, he wasn't surprised.

Ferguson-Not surprised by the decision

Ferguson says he loves Diethrick Park, but says it no longer meets the requirements for minor league baseball.

Ferguson-Stadium no longer meets requirements

Ferguson doubts that Jamestown will be able to lure another professional baseball team to the stadium, but he says there are other possibilities including some collegiate and frontier leagues. Jamestown Mayor Sam Teresi, who addressed issue during last night's Jamestown City Council meeting, says efforts are already underway to find a new franchise opportunity.
