The day after Easter is known as Dyngus Day among Polish Americans. The celebration that dates back nearly a thousand years involves use of water and pussy willows to mark the end of Lent. Bruce Tarnowski is helping to keep the tradition alive in the Dunkirk-Fredonia area.

Bruce's father, the late Chester Tarnowski, loved to celebrate the occasion each year. A Dyngus Day celebration will be held at the Kosciuszko Club on Nevins Street later today, complete with a Polish band.
