On Tuesday September 21, 2010, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Western PA/West Virginia will be hosting the 11th annual Light the Night Walk in Erie, PA. Light the Night is a nationwide evening event to celebrate and commemorate lives touched by cancer. The 1.5 mile parade helps support our mission to raise funds to cure leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma while improving the quality of life of patients and their families. The walk will take place in Jerry Uht Park and will begin at 7:30 p.m, preceded by registration and a pre-walk celebration (including entertainment, music, and refreshments) at 5:30. There is not registration fee for the walk, but we encourage everyone to try to raise $25 for the cause. Walkers who raise $25 will receive an illuminated red balloon to carry during the walk to show their support. Walkers who reach higher fundraising levels will receive additional prizes. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 @ 7:00 pm At this month’s presentation Ms. Fafinski will discuss how your kidneys work, including commonly asked questions. How is kidney disease detected? What are the treatment choices? What are the warning signs and symptoms? Does insurance cover treatments? What are the diet restrictions? What you can do to prevent disease from progressing. The Westfield Quilters' Guild is having a Quilt Show on Friday and Saturday, September 10, 11, 2010 from 1am-5pm and Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 12-4pm.
