Live at the Met: La Rondine
1:00 PM - 3:45 PM

Puccini’s bittersweet love story returns to cinemas, with soprano Angel Blue starring as the French courtesan Magda, opposite tenor Jonathan Tetelman as Ruggero, an idealistic young man who offers her an alternative to her life of excess. Maestro Speranza Scappucci conducts Nicolas Joël’s Art Deco–inspired staging, which transports audiences from the heart of Parisian nightlife to a dreamy vision of the French Riviera. Soprano Emily Pogorelc and tenor Bekhzod Davronov complete the sterling cast as Lisette and Prunier. Sung in Italian with English subtitles, this production runs two hours, 47 minutes with one intermission. Live at the Met is underwritten with support from Daniel S. Kaufman and Timothy W. Beaver.

Free Screening of Film “Common Ground” to be Held
6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

The Green Sanctuary Team of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua will hold a free film screening of the film “Common Ground” on Saturday, April 20 at 6:30pm at 222 Temple Street in Fredonia. “Common Ground” is a new film about how regenerating the world’s soils has the potential to rapidly stabilize Earth’s climate, restore lost ecosystems, and create abundant food supplies. This film explains why transitioning to regenerative agriculture could be key in rehabilitating the planet, while simultaneously invigorating a new sense of hope and inspiration in viewers. People are calling Common Ground “The Most Important Film You’ll Ever Watch”—which is a big claim. But it just may be true. UUCNC’s Green Sanctuary Team is excited to be hosting this in-person screening of this powerful film, sponsored by Interfaith Power & Light. Discussion, snacks, and Q&A with local regenerative farmers will follow the film. The running time for the film is 87 minutes.
