Free Fly Tying/Fly Fishing Classes
Wednesday, May 16 2018 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Free Fly Tying / Fly Fishing Classes for everyone between 8 and 108 years old - Costello Room Rockefeller Arts Center. Every Wednesday year round except for holidays.
The educational format for the program begins with aquatic biology lessons followed by fly tying lessons. The fly patterns taught to the students are generally imitations of insects, bait fish and other food sources from the local area. These food sources vary by time of day, weather, water temperature and time of year. These aquatic life cycles teach young people about the fragility of their environment and about nurturing and protecting natural resources. Class are taught by local experts, Jim Wilcox, John Straight, and Alberto Rey.
