Rev. George Buchanan to Speak to Unitarian Universalist Congregation
Sunday, January 14 2018 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua welcomes Consulting Minister Rev. George Buchanan to the pulpit on Sunday January 14. Buchanan’s sermon, “The Prophetic Imagination” will reference Walter Brueggemann’s book of the same title and will explore how Brueggemann helps us understand where prophetic leaders, including Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., get their radical understanding of our deepest needs. We will reflect on their prophetic message as we worship together. This is also Share the Plate Sunday. 100% of the non-pledge money received on each Share the Plate Sunday will be given to a chosen charity. This month the money will go to the Hispanic Community Council which supports displaced Puerto Ricans in Dunkirk. Please make your check payable to UUCNC and indicate “Share the Plate” on the memo line. Of course, your cash contribution is also welcome! The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northern Chautauqua is a liberal religious community devoted to promoting individual spiritual development, working toward peace, liberty and justice in our immediate and global communities, and providing companionship on life’s sacred journey. Our worship services are held each Sunday at 11 a.m. in the Grange Hall, 58 W. Main St. Fredonia.
