Special Library Program for Those Entering Kindergarten iCal

Tuesday, August 29 2017 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

The Anderson-Lee Library in Silver Creek is pleased to offer a very special program for children entering Kindergarten in September of 2017. On Tuesday August 29 at 1pm, local author Ann Apfel will lead a program called “Introducing Ellie”. To parents, Apfel asks, “Do you remember your first day going to kindergarten? How afraid you were to take that first step into learning and independence?” In this workshop, Apfel will read the children her book “Introducing Ellie” and will then lead the children in drawing their self-portrait in chalk outside on the sidewalk. Says Apfel, “Drawing yourself can help to create the self-love you require to take big steps in your life with confidence.” In addition, the library will gift a copy of “Introducing Ellie” to each child that attends. Anne Apfel grew up on a dairy farm in western NY and “Introducing Ellie” depicts her life on that farm as she prepares for kindergarten. In addition to writing and publishing children’s books, Apfel is an artist, a healer, and poet and leads workshops and meditations. Visit her website at https://ganneapfel.wixsite.com/mysite to learn more about her work. This program is free and open to all entering Kindergarten this fall. Registration is required. Please call the library at 934-3468 or stop by 43 Main Street in Silver Creek to register.
