Audubon Community Nature Center
ACNC’s Snowflake Sustainable Living Festival features live animals, sustainable living activities such as making butter, and outdoor activities including games, wagon rides, and snowshoes.
The longest-running Audubon event, this festival combines getting outside in the winter to play and enjoy yourself with learning to live with a lighter impact on the planet. Live Birds of Prey programs get audience members up close with hawks and owls. Husky sled-dogs demonstrate their pulling power on the trails and if there is snow, Evergreen Outfitters provides snowshoes people can try out.
Newer activities include making butter, learning how to drill maple taps, and making baskets. While specific activities are not finalized for 2017, the event will have hands-on activities that are replicable at home to help have a smaller impact on the environment.
All activities listed above are included with the admission fee. Even more activities are happening that have a small additional cost, including making a wooden nest box or bird feeder, taking a wagon ride, or participating in the Basket Raffle. Food this year is being provided by the Busti Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for an additional fee.
