Saturday Sports Update
Top: Dunkirk High School's football program hasn't felt that winning feeling since November 2021. One week after coming close against Lake Shore, the Marauders were able to seal the deal against Albion with a 40-26 victory. Dunkirk got 240 yards and three touchdowns on the ground from Mike Hanlon, but also standing out was junior Jareese Gaines (left), who had five receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Head coach Edwin Gomez got rewarded for his first win with a Gatorade bath (right). Photos by Greg Larson
Bottom left: We're just two days away from the Buffalo Bills' season opener, and right now, the only question mark on their injury front centers around starting safety Micah Hyde. On Friday, he was limited in a walk-through practice after sitting out all of Thursday's practice. The Bills will hit the road to face the New York Jets on Monday night. Photo by USA Today
Bottom right: New York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Severino has had a rough go of it in a season filled with disappointment for the Bronx Bombers, and it got worse for him on Friday. In the 5th inning, he left the Yankees' game against the Milwaukee Brewers with an upper body injury. The team has since placed him on the 15-day injured list. New York went on to lose 8-2.
