Hochul Announces Agreement on 2024-2025 State Budget

Two weeks after its due date, New York State leaders have reached a conceptual agreement on 2024-2025 state budget. Governor Kathy Hochul, who made the announcement in Albany late Monday afternoon, says the spending plan totals approximately $237 billion, which is approximately $4 billion higher than her initial proposal in January. She says it will make the state "safer, more affordable" and "move livable" without raising income taxes...

Hochul says some of the highlights of the agreement include aggressive action to address the state's housing shortage, crack down on retail theft, and expand mental health services.
